Workshop – Urban topography

The workshop, organized by the Research Centre for the History of Cologne and the Cologne Center of eHumanities, is dedicated to questions of digital processing, evaluation and visualization of data on urban space in the Middle Ages and early modern period. The starting point is the DFG-funded project “Beguines in Cologne – Social History of Urban Piety from the 13th to the 15th Century“, which is based with the organizers.

How should data be modeled with regard to prosopographical, social and sacral topographical, legal and economic historical questions? Which infrastructures, tools and visualizations are used in the analysis and presentation? Together with various projects from the European region, we will enter into a dialog about different solutions and approaches.

Date/Location: September 26/27, 2024, Anna Maria von Schürmann Room (3.229 Philosophikum), University of Cologne.
