Description
The Editio Critica Maior of the Greek New Testament is being prepared in Münster. To this end, the 200 most important textual witnesses were digitized, collated, segmented and stored in a database. With the help of the CBGM (Coherence-Based Genealogical Method) developed in Münster, an attempt is being made to understand the relationship between the textual witnesses. INTF was supported by the CCeH in the technical implementation of the CBGM.
The aim of this collaboration was to implement the CBGM based on the existing text database and to develop a graphical web front end for queries. The web front-end enables the editors of the Editio Critica Maior, philologists and interested laypersons to visually explore the text and all text variants. Editors can also define or revise their assessment of the priority text variants. These assessments in turn serve as input for the CBGM.
The frontend was developed in Javascript/VueJS. The backend runs on Python/Flask and Postgres. The project was hosted on a CCeH server for the duration of the collaboration. An implementation as a Docker container for everyone is available.
